Wow, it seems like the month of December has been a blur! We had the benefit for the Hank Family and the turnout was amazing. The amount of love and support that was shown was overwhelming at times.

The holiday season is drawing to a close and it has been a whirlwind. We spent time with family and friends and it was fun. Wii bowling was hit especially for the adults. The kids made it through one game and then became more engaged with their new hand held "things" Amelia, was more excited with yelling "oh yeah" when anyone made a spare or strike.

We are approaching another year and when I look back at 2009 it too had a lot of changes that happened to our family. I with a new job and Alex starting her Senior year and getting her license...Hailey is officially a teenager and we noticed that when she woke up one morning with an attitude. Umph!! not again just went through one that was like that...Jake is in hockey and wrestling, although he would much rather play dodge ball during practice. Amelia is in hockey and could probably hold her own playing with the boys.

Well, my new years resolution is to be more faithful to my diet and blogging. I am sure you can all place your bets now on which one will last the longest!

Until next time!

Monday, Day One of Many Tough Ones to Come

Well today we will go to Adam's wake and I have been sitting here all day trying to prepare myself to see my dear friends who will be in so much pain. I have spent the last few days in and out of tears. Tears of pain, confusion, anger and determination. The Team Hank benefit committee are in full force today and scheduling and recruiting for items. I came in today to e-mails that word had traveled about the benefit and people offering to assist. I will tell you it is inspiring to see a community of people come together to help a family in need. We will make it through this and be there when needed.

To the Hanks, The pain is overwhelming and I am just standing outside looking in. I will stand here behind you to catch you when you need me.

To Adam, I and my family will be better because you were in our life. Your kind and free spirited personality have taught us many things. One of them is to make sure that you laugh and not care what anyone else thinks and for that I thank you!

RIP Adam Hank

Tough Week

Well, a lot has happened in the last 48-72 hours.
Tuesday night we went roller skating with the neighbor for her birthday. Jake and Amelia were naturals and took off and lapped me a few times. The hokey pokey and the chicken dance were a hit for the kids. Then Amelia went in to the center of the rink and did the cha cha dance after it was done the place went nuts with cheering it was pretty funny.

Then Wednesday we received tragic news about a hockey family that we are close to, their son Adam a Junior at Anoka High School died suddenly at home from an aneurysm. He went to sleep on the couch and never woke up. This has rocked our Hockey Community and we continue to question why? They have a son in Iraq fighting a war and their younger son dies in their livingroom. I have spent the last 24-36 hours talking to other hockey families and we all seem to be at a loss. Adam spent time with all of us and was a fixture at softball games. He was kind and gentle. The words good kid are used a lot when people pass, but I will tell you this time there is no other way to describe him but to say, he truly was a good kid. The family will never be the same and will forever have something missing.

Unfortunately, it is tragedies like this that make you reflect on your life and what really is important. What we really have to be thankful for and how quickly it can be changed forever. I am sad, angry and I am having a difficult time trying to explain this to my own family. Our hockey community has been rocked but we will make it through together as a family. There is a sense of loyalty that cannot be explained with this community of people.

So tomorrow there will be some of us hockey parents that are going to get together to plan a benefit for a family that needs the love and support of their community.

So I will leave you with this, hug your kids a little tighter tonight and make sure that you tell them, your family and friends so they know how much you love and appreciate them!

Hockey Weekend

Well it was a pretty amazing hockey weekend. Hailey's team won the championship game and they played amazing! Hailey had some pretty amazing saves and one of them was quite impressive. Jake and Amelia wanted to go play at the park with Chezi during Hailey's second game on Saturday and Jazzbo said...what if they are her good luck, we can't not bring them, so in goalie superstitious fashion we had to drag the two littl ones with to the arena! The team is phenominal and the parents are wonderful, winning is the icing on the cake for this season. We look forward to the Anoka Classic Tournament the first weekend in December. All of the girl teams from Anoka took home hardware (trophies). Go Anoka Girls Hockey!!

Mia had hockey on Saturday and will probably be a rockstar herself. That's all she talks about is when does she have hockey again. Jake had hockey on Sunday for grandparents day. He is starting to like it a little bit more, but his heart is in wrestling. Alex, worked most of the weekend and was crabby until she was able to see Kent last night, then her mood got better. She also got her body piercings in the mail and was quite happy.

Vikings pummeled the Seahawks and we were spared their embarrassment by having to be at the rink but not without sending some jabbing texts to family and friends at home.

This week will go by faster than I want, I need to clean my house but I am very thankful for everthing and look forward to spending the day reflecting about all that I have...

Another Hockey Filled Weekend

Well Hailey has her first tournament of the year. Her game is Saturday morning at 8:40am, UGH. I am going with the girls tonight to the boxing match. This is a big fight for Caleb and will be pretty exciting.

I went to a candle party last night, spent more than I wanted to, of course and then booked a party of course. I am always a sucker for that stuff :-)

Mia was full of it again last night, we were telling her to go to bed (as usual) and Dad said to her stop taking things out of Alex's room and go to bed, she said.."I didn't take anything from Alex's room" (now, at this point she has her back to us and is stuffing the items into her pockets) Alex, Dad and I were hiding our laughing. So dad says, "Amelia, yes you did" and Amelia turns around looks right at him puts her hands out and says dad "you can't prove it" and all of us trying to muffle our laughing at this point because her pockets were bulging and little plastic animals are hanging out of her pocket. So dad says, Amelia your pockets are full of stuff...this is the best......She looks down at her pockets looks back up at us with of coures a look of shock and amazement and says :how did that happen, good night, love you and ran away..........Kids Got to Love Them

Until next time

The Kids, hmmm

So last night another night filled with running. Jake and Amelia really wanted a gum ball from the arena when we dropped Hailey off. I told them no we are not going in I will get you something later. So when we went to pick her back up and I said no again, Amelia puts her hand up like in a stop position and says. "Listen mom, a deal is a deal, don't try to get out of it now!".....really your four! So no we did not go into the arena and we did not get gum balls. So I stopped at the liquor store and as I was getting out Amelia says to Hailey and Jake, "Great, another sucker!"
So we all got what we wanted out of the deal and were all happy, I think?

Going to bed last night was a chore too, we started at 8:30pm. It was I am thirsty, I have to go the bathroom, my side hurts, I need to get a book to read to maggie (the dog), I have to tell you what I had for lunch, mom do you think there is such thing as aliens. I am really, really thirsty now, did I eat dinner, what did I have to eat, when is Thanksgiving, where is my favorite stuffed animal (you know the one that of course can not be found out of the 500 they have), at this point it is 9:30 and I am at my breaking point and I say"GO TO BED, NOW. I HAVE HAD IT"

Two minutes later, I hear little foot steps coming down the hallway and I am up off the couch hands on hips, steam coming out of my ears and I say "WHAT?" and here is Amelia, mom I love you...you are the BESTEST mom EVER!

REALLY?!?!?! Now you know why I stopped at the liquor store instead of going in to the arena for gum balls!

That's my story and I am sticking to it!

Well, another crazy weekend in the Huspek household. Hockey three times on Saturday and two times on Sunday. Hailey had her first game and won against Rogers 7-1. Jake likes hockey, but really loves wrestling. Amelia, had hockey on Saturday and she loves it. She is skating on her own and when the high school girls tried to give her a walker she grabbed her stick and skated away. It was pretty funny and for those of you that know Mia, having her own way is not surprising. I took some pictures and I am trying to load them from my phone to this website. Hailey has a hockey tournament this weekend so I will update from there.

Have a great one world!
